Meditation - The Perfect Stress Reliever

Stress is a very prevalent problem in society today. With the busy lives that we all lead, it's very easy to get run-down in a hurry. People spend excessive hours at the office where tension is high and competition for work is fierce. Combine this with the fact that most of our home lives are just as hectic and it's easy to see why more and more people are experiencing extreme anxiety. Coping with stress isn't easy but it is possible. Here is a simple exercise anyone can do to alleviate some of the stress in their life.

One way to find more peace in your life and get rid of some of the anxiety is to meditate. For many centuries, people have been using this relaxation technique to calm themselves. A lot of people see meditating as too exotic and think that they don't have the ability to do it. This is a big mistake! Anyone can benefit from meditation.

You don't have to climb a mountain or join a Buddhist society either. This relaxation technique can be practiced in your own home.

Try this simple exercise if you're unfamiliar with meditation. Find a quiet place in the house and sit down in a comfortable position. Now close your eyes and focus on your breath. Don't force any thoughts out but recognize them as they come. It's important that you don't judge yourself. Just watch. If your mind starts to wander, don't worry. Just refocus on your breathing to bring your being back into the now. The idea behind this exercise is to remind you that things aren't all that bad right now! You can breathe! Just enjoy the air and all the beautiful life that it brings you. Spend ten minutes a day with this stress reliever and watch the anxiety in your life fade away.
